Dear Yuletide Author...

Hi there! I'm so excited about signing up this year, and about the four fandoms I've requested. You obviously have good taste, since we got matched. :D I want to apologize for not having a bigger online presence for you to mine for more details and preferences - I've always been a bit of a lurker - so this letter is really all you have to go on. I'll do my best to make it a good one. Sorry in advance for the rambling.

I'm typically a fan of canon-set stories, and would rather receive something like that instead of an AU or a crossover. I'm happy to read any rating, and the genre is really whatever inspires you - I enjoy romance, angst, fluff, mystery, and smut fic. Also, winter or Christmas-themed fic is always welcome.

I do have a couple general dislikes - namely, rape/non-con, graphic violence/gore, and mpreg. Anything fandom-specific will be mentioned below. Aside from that, you're free to explore wherever the prompts take you!

Now You See Me (2013) - J Daniel Atlas, Jack Wilder

I think Atlas and Jack have such an interesting dynamic - I'm a sucker for hero worship/mentor stories, and I'd love something like that with the two of them. Jack obviously admires Atlas, and Atlas really couldn't care less - or so he'd have everybody believe. Seeing the growth of their dynamic over the missing year of the film would be awesome - there's so much potential for anger and frustration, admiration and respect, and even smut. I'd love to see something primarily focused on the two of them, with the other two Horsemen in the background, too.

Why couldn't "Now You See Me" have been all about the Four Horsemen?! I thought the four of them were so interesting and very different, and I loved the banter and snark that they all had. Though they were working as a team, they never lost their individual mindsets. I was especially interested in Atlas and Jack's dynamic in the film - the way Jack obviously idolized Atlas, and how Atlas both reveled in that and had no time for his adoration was really fascinating. I'd love to see that expanded upon! Playing with the idea of a hero-worshipping dynamic during the missing year of the film, with Jack trying to impress Atlas and learn from him and growing frustrated as it seems to make no difference, would be amazing. But please don't make Atlas a total asshole - I think he cares more about people than he lets on. Something where Jack finally stands up to Atlas, too - maybe post-canon? - would be great! If you'd like to add a side of sexual tension and/or smut to your hero-worship for this pairing, I'd absolutely love that - but if you'd like to keep them more as rivals, coworkers and friends, that'd be awesome too. I also really like Henley and Merritt, and they'd be more than welcome in this fic - and Henley's welcome to be a temporary love interest for either Atlas or Jack, if you like! Essentially, anything that delves deeper into the Atlas and Jack dynamic that was touched on in canon would be wonderful to receive.

Being Human (US/Canada) - Aidan Waite, Sally Malik, Josh Levison

As cool as the supernatural elements are on this show, what I love the most are these three roommates. I love the way their friendships have grown and the way they protect and take care of each other, as well as the fun banter that goes on when they're not dealing with some paranormal crisis. Their 'kitchen scenes', as they're known, are my favourites. Something light-hearted would be lovely - they go through so much crap on the show that I'm craving fic happiness. I love all three roomies and fic about any combination of the three of them - be it friendship or something more romantic - is completely welcome.

What it says on the tin, pretty much. I LOVE THESE THREE. I love how much they care about each other and how they've literally done everything for each other over the course of the show's three seasons. My favourite scenes are when the show loosens up a little and lets the characters laugh and be happy - it's always so brief, but it's always so enjoyable. Fic with the three of them dealing with roommate stuff - who forgot to take out the trash? Who left a corpse to rot in the basement again? - in a lighthearted way would be wonderful. Anything romantic, too, would be great. Watching one of them realize they have feelings for another, and then watching them try to figure out what the hell to do with those feelings? Yes please. I ship every possible combination of these three, so you can't go wrong there. Something smutty would definitely be welcome, something silly would be amazing, and if you're in the mood to write holiday fic (roommates exchanging presents?!!), go wild. I'm less interested in the supernatural elements of the show, for now - though I'd rather that sort of thing just be in the background rather than written out/erased. (Although feel free to go light on Aidan's vampire drama - it gets exhausting pretty quickly.) Other characters are more than welcome to appear - especially Nora and Emily, whom I adore. Essentially, give me something fun and sweet with these three roommates, and I'll be thrilled.

The Greatest (2009) - Rose, Bennett Brewer, Ryan Brewer

This movie absolutely destroys me every time I watch it - the love story here makes me ache. Watching Rose try to get to know her baby's father while his entire family is resentful and trying to push her away is so heartbreaking. I love these three characters that I've selected, and seeing more of them would be amazing. Be it pre-movie fic showing more of Rose and Bennett's short but incredible romance, or Rose and Ryan leaning on each other in the wake of Bennett's passing, or something focusing on Bennett and Ryan's tumultuous brotherly relationship... I'd be thrilled with any of these. I'm just dying for more about these characters.

Oh god, this movie breaks my heart. I love these three characters, and I think there's so much to each one of them. The movie has a lot of tension and deals with some tough situations, and I'd really like to see more of that. We get so little of Bennett in the film, and most of what we do know about him is told from the perspectives of his loved ones - seeing more Bennett and getting to know him in fic would be wonderful. It killed me that Rose and Bennett spent so long wanting each other, and then had such a short time to be together. I'd love more scenes of the two of them falling in love, or going back even further to elaborate on their crushes on each other before officially meeting. And I also think Ryan is a fascinating character - the way he envied, resented, and looked up to Bennett is a really honest brotherly dynamic, and I loved what they did with his story in the film. Seeing him interact more with Rose after Bennett's death, or seeing what Bennett and Ryan's relationship was really like when he was alive, would be really great. Including the adult Brewers is totally cool, too. The only thing I ask is that Rose & Bennett's love story be treated as important, just like it was in the movie. (Please nothing romantic with Rose and Bennett's dad.) Feel free to focus on any of these three characters and explore more of the world and the dynamics given to us in the film - I'd really love that.

Warm Bodies (2013) - R, Julie Grigio

"Warm Bodies" has this great mixture of humour, romance, and action, and the movie never fails to put me in a good mood. R completely charmed me, and I really love the way the film developed his relationship with Julie. More of these two would be fantastic - I'm thinking maybe something set after the movie, showing R's attempts at settling into a real human life with Julie after spending years as a zombie. Or maybe some missing scenes from the film - more of R and Julie's moments together on the plane or on their way back to the city, showing how they fall in love. Anything that captures the sweetness and humour of the movie would be amazing.

As I said in my sign up, what hooked me onto "Warm Bodies" immediately was the tone of the film - the cute humour, the romance, and the action. I can't watch it and not wind up happy! So I'd love to read fic in that same sort of tone. I thought Julie and R had a really sweet relationship, despite the whole "he ate her boyfriend" thing, and I think they were good for each other. More than anything I'd really love to see future fic with R and Julie - I'd love to watch R fully come back to being human and adjust to the world again. Watching him learn how to not only interact with a real life, but how to have a human relationship, would be awesome. If you'd prefer to stick to fic set before the end of the movie, more moments of R and Julie when she's staying on the plane with him would be really lovely. More of them bonding and really relating to each other, despite R's speech difficulties. R's narration is one of the best parts of the film, so if you'd like to keep that going in a fic and write in first person, go for it! I loved the differences between what he thought and what he could say, and I bet that'd still be there once he becomes human again, too. I also really like Nora and M, so feel free to include them! Mentions of Perry and General Grigio are also a-ok with me. Anything with R, Julie and a sense of humour and romance like the movie, and I'll be a happy reader.
